Diamond Defence is an Australian-owned and operated specialist manufacturer of high-reliability fibre-optic and electrical interconnection systems for defence and telecommunications and other harsh environment applications.

Operating from our consolidated facility in Williamstown, VIC, Diamond Defence designs and manufactures complex cable assemblies and integrated interconnect solutions built to meet demanding defence and industry performance requirements. We support our products by offering our customers tailored training services, particular in the fibre-optics domain. 

Our structured engineering processes, disciplined production systems and traceability controls ensure consistent, repeatable and compliant manufacturing outcomes.

Diamond Defence has extensive Research and Development programs that are supported by the Commonwealth of Australia and Department of Defence. Current research efforts are supported with a $3.2M grant from the Department of Defence which focuses on developing a Diamond-based Quantum RF-Receiver.

What We Do

We have made invested in automated cutting, stripping, crimping and curing systems for both electrical and optical terminations. All tooling, test and measurement equipment is calibrated and structured inspection processes deliver repeatability and production scalability.

Electrical Cable Assemblies

Open wire harnesses, screened and encapsulated assemblies built to IPC/WHMA-A-620
Class 3.

Fibre Optic Cable Assemblies

Ruggedised, single to 48 channel assemblies built in alignment with the MIL-DTL-49292 defence standard; the primary governing specification for the fabrication and testing of fibre-optic assemblies.

Component Supply and Integration

Extended international supply chain across Australian, US and European manufacturers.

Engineering Design Support

2D & 3D harness design, prototyping, drawing generation and design optimisation.

Field Installation Support

On-site integration, commissioning and thru-life support. Extensive fibre-optic training programs available for Engineers and Technicians.

Quality and Compliance

Diamond Defence operates under ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D quality management systems for the manufacture of fibre-optic and electrical cable assemblies, including training. The only Australian company with this scope under AS9100D.

Our team is trained and certified to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards to Class 3, ensuring workmanship excellence for all electrical assemblies.

All production tooling is serialised and calibrated, with comprehensive build record documentation enabling full traceability of materials, processes and operators.

All assemblies are subject to 100% inspection and automated test validation in accordance with customer and MIL-STD requirements.

Defence Industry

Diamond Defence is a registered member of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and is JOSCAR registered, supporting secure and compliant participation within defence supply chains.

We work closely with defence primes and advanced industry partners, delivering disciplined manufacturing performance aligned with national and international standards.
